Apps/Environmental Risk Instrument

Ampere

Your South African suburb's risk — load shedding, air and water — as one sourced number.

What it does

Ampere reads the signals that actually disrupt South African daily life — load shedding, air quality and water — and resolves them into a single 0–100 risk score for your suburb. Every score is source-traced: the app shows exactly which signals contributed and by how much, using live EskomSePush load-shedding data and WAQI air-quality readings. The visual language is deliberately calm — opacity, never alarm-red hue — because it is built to be an instrument you can trust, not a feed that exists to frighten you.

Key features

One sourced risk score

A single 0–100 composite for your suburb. Source-traced: see exactly which signals contributed and by how much.

Live load shedding

Real EskomSePush stage and schedule for your area, updated on data pull rather than on a timer.

Air, water and trend

Air quality from WAQI and water signals folded into the score, with a 30-day history chart built on Apple Charts.

Ask Siri

App Intents and Shortcuts let you ask Siri for the current risk score or the power signal without opening the app.

Calm by design

Opacity instead of colour-coded panic, calibrated haptics when risk crosses a threshold, and a full accessibility pass — VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, verified contrast.

Privacy
